Discussion of Onnochitra Development Organization on the occasion of World Food Day at Gouripur, Mymensingh

Every year 16 October is celebrated as World Food Day. The theme of this year’s Food Day in the country is ‘Leave no one behind.’ Good production leads to good nutrition, safe environment and better life.

A discussion meeting was held on Saturday (November 12) morning at the press club meeting room in Gouripur Upazila of Mymensingh organized by Onnochitra Development Agency. Under the chairmanship of Rebecca Sultana, executive director of Onnochitra Development Organization, conducted by social worker Emon Sarkar, Upazila Nirbahi Officer Gouripur Hasan Maruf was present as the chief guest. Municipal panel mayor Nazim Uddin Ahmed, journalist Obaidur Rahman, female college lecturer Salim Al Raj and others were also present.I

In the meeting, the speakers discussed in detail the role of family and small farmers in increasing food production and ensuring food security. In the speech of the chief guest, Upazila Nirbahi Officer Hasan Maruf said that according to the instructions of the honorable Prime Minister, we have to work to ensure that even an inch of land is not left unclaimed.

 

Panel Mayor Nazim Uddin said in his speech that the country is progressing beautifully under the leadership of the honorable Prime Minister. We should cooperate with Hon’ble Prime Minister, use our uncultivated land for production.

 

The executive director of Onnochitra Development Agency said that everyone’s collective efforts can play a role in preventing a possible food crisis. The program was fully supported by Association for Land Reform and Development (ALRD), Dhaka.
