More than 1000 students have taken oath against child marriage in Gouripur, Mymensingh. They took the oath on Wednesday (November 23) morning and red carded child marriage. The students who took the oath are students of Gouripur Pilot Girls High School.

This program was organized by the upazila administration and with the support of the Onnochitra development organization. The motto was – ‘Say no to child marriage, move ahead in the face of poverty’. Md. Enamul Haque, headmaster of the school, presided over the rally held on the grounds of Pilot Girls’ High School. Upazila Nirbahi Officer Hasan Maruf was present as chief guest and Assistant Commissioner (Land) Mosa Nikhat Ara was present as special guest.

In the gathering, the treasurer of Onnochitra Nazim Uddin, inspector of Gouripur police station Md. Moniruzzaman, former commander Abdur Rahim, upazila secondary education officer Md. Ashraful Islam, academic supervisor Kamal Roy, upazila Ansar VDP officer Rakibul Islam, all the teachers of the school discussed the evils of child marriage. Anti-child marriage information cards were distributed among the students. Before this the daily assembly of Pilot Girls High School was held.
